SLEEP KNOWLEDGE AND ADVICE

  • Milk & Honey
Milk helps in achieving better sleep as it contains L-tryptophan. Honey helps by keeping the blood sugar within the body balanced all night, so as to avoid early awakening.
  • Naked Sleep
Sleeping without clothes on helps reduce load on the body, muscles can relax more effectively, helps the body to achieve better metabolic rate throughout the night.
  • Temperature
Sleeping in a warm condition can shorten the time required to fall asleep and to enter deep sleep. Taking a hot bath before bed maintains perfect moisture level on the skin and the body.
  • Humidity
Humidity usually changes how the body feel. Sleeping in an overly dry or wet surrounding can significantly affect the overall quality of sleep.
  • Researchers at the University of Sydney have tested the sleeping conditions of 8 participants in their study. The participants were sleeping in wool, pure cotton, and synthetic fibre blankets respectively. Results proved that those who were using synthetic fibre blankets had the poorest quality of sleep; while those who were using wool quilts, were able to reach REM sleep for the longest period of time.
  • The primary reason being in usual sleeping conditions, most people would perspire in their sleep. However, if the blanket or quilt were poor at absorbing perspiration, the person would feel stuffy whilst sleeping. Wool has superior water absorbency and permeability, thus better for regulating and maintain the most optimal sleeping temperature at 32.7° C, making it more comfortable for our body throughout the night.
